The beautiful city of Madison is located between four large lakes in the southeastern portion of Wisconsin, an area that is rich in historical significance and has a very diverse population.

The first FLMDC meeting consisted of about ten enthusiastic metal detector hobbyists. Since then, FLMDC has had a continuing membership level in excess of forty dedicated members. Several of the original charter members are currently active members.

Monthly meetings are a highlight of the club's activities, offering unique and knowledgable speakers and presentors with diverse, but pertinent subjects of interest. A major attraction is the annual member  hunts, featuring numerous exciting finds of silver and gold coins, artifacts and prizes. All active members, and their immediate families are able to participate in these fun and lucrative hunts.
